I also build and adapt musical instruments. Some of these were inspired by Harry Partch. This is a Bass Marimba, built with Rob Vialle, which I used for a concert at Kings Place in London. The bars were tuned by Jamie Linwood
It made it's recording debut on Run Run Run for Joe and Raf's (2 bears) album 'The Night Is Young'. We recorded it at the premises in Hackney and all thought it sounded like a wooden 808.
Other Harry Partch instruments include a set of cloud chamber bowls. Here's a photo of Paul Clarvis playing some of them whilst recording the music for Woman in the Fifth in 2010.
More recently I have been adapting autoharps (by redesigning the chord bars) to play different harmonic spectrums from an F harmonic series.
